‘Ikale Tahi hooker Ngauamo banned for 3 weeks for tip tackle

With one win out of four, Tonga will not join New Zealand in the knock out stages of the tournament which begin next Saturday 17 October.

However Tonga will exit the world cup with their heads held high after making the reigning champions, New Zealand, work hard for their victory.

Tonga hooker Paula Ngauamo has been banned for three weeks for a dangerous tip tackle on Daniel Carter in the 47-9 loss to New Zealand at the Rugby World Cup.

Ngauamo was yellow-carded for the tackle on Friday, and cited by independent citing commissioner Mike Rafter of England. He admitted the charge, and judicial offer Terry Willis of Australia imposed the suspension on Monday.

In a statement, World Cup organizers said Willis deemed the tackle at the low end of the scale for the charge. Ngauamo will serve the ban at his French club Mont-de-Marsan, where he can resume playing on Oct. 31.
